As part of this task, as a subcontractor, we designed and commissioned a motion control system for a two-meter diameter valve on the blast furnace air supply line. To minimize the chance of failure and to simplify and speed up possible repair, the system is based solely on binary logic implemented by relays. The combination of the eight limit switches, four actuators and three switchable control points creates a reliable and secure valve movement system.
